The Lower Colorado River Authority (“LCRA”) is a nonprofit public utility established to provide quality of life to Texans through water stewardship, energy, and community service.

In November 2017, LCRA contracted VOLT LINK to upgrade a 13.9 mile 69kV transmission line between its Harwood and Waelder substations to 138kV capable. The VOLT LINK scope included the replacement of 112 structures to complete the conductor upgrade and the installation of OPGW shield wire from Waelder to Flatonia substations.

The VOLT LINK upgrades (including foundations, tangents, and dead ends) were performed on energized lines with support from Quanta Energized Services and Probst Electric Company (Both VOLT LINK and Probst are Quanta Services companies (PWR:NYSE)). Completed to schedule in May 2018, the project was delivered to budget and with zero lost time incidents.
